PRISA Audio and Cadena SER, organisers of the Premios Ondas Globales del Podcast Awards, will open the registration period for their fourth edition on Wednesday 20 November. The awards, which have established themselves as the most important in the world for the Spanish-language sector, will once again be divided into three categories: general, specific and special. A total of 16 awards will be presented in the spring of 2025 for the best fiction, conversational podcasts, scripts, sound design or productions, among other categories. Entries can be submitted from now until 20 December 2024 via the website.
The CEO of PRISA Audio, María Jesús Espinosa de los Monteros, acknowledged that “it is with great satisfaction that we launch the IV Global Podcast Ondas Awards. From this opening of nominations, we begin a series of milestones that will lead to a gala in which we will celebrate the best podcasts in the world in Spanish. From PRISA Audio, we continue with the commitment we started with all the creators, producers, agencies and platforms to give maximum visibility to the podcast culture”.
The 14 categories in which audio or audiovisual products can be submitted PRISA Audio and SER are offering the opportunity to enter 14 categories through the website podcast.premiosondas.com. Nominees and winners
Since the 2nd edition, these awards have included a nomination phase. There are five finalists in each of the 14 open categories. In total, 70 outstanding projects will be announced next February in the phase preceding the decision to be taken in March. They will be selected by an international jury of relevance and prestige in the fields of communication, media and advertising, which, as on all previous occasions, will be made public once the final decision has been announced.
To date, the Onda Global Podcast Awards have served to recognise the excellence of some of the creators, producers and reference platforms in the field of podcasting. These include fiction such as 'Caso 63' and 'Titania’, talk shows such as 'La vida y tal’ and 'Se regalan dudas’, presenters such as Xuso Jones, Ana Brito and Cristina Mitre, narrative podcasts such as 'Los papeles’ and 'La cárcel no da risa’, and actors such as Luis Zahera, Lolita and Alfonso Herrera, for their work in a medium as powerful as audio.
About the Ondas Globales del Podcast Awards and PRISA Audio
The Premios Ondas Globales del Podcast, organised by PRISA Audio and Cadena SER, are the most important awards dedicated exclusively to the sector in the Spanish- speaking world. The awards are part of the Premios Ondas de Radio Barcelona, which have been held since 1956 and are considered the most prestigious radio and television awards in Spain.
Podcasting is a growing industry that PRISA has been committed to since 2016, when it launched Podium Podcast. In 2021, PRISA launched the Global Podcast Waves Awards to recognise the podcast and digital audio industry.
PRISA Audio is a transversal platform that integrates all the company’s non-linear audio content (EL PAÍS, AS, Cadena SER, Cadena DIAL and LOS40) and stations in Latin America (W Radio, Caracol Radio and ADN Chile), as well as Podium Podcast, among others. It is currently the second largest producer of this type of content in the world, surpassed only by the US conglomerate iHeart Media.
