Many Rivers - a brand new podcast exploring the heartbeat of British Black Music

Many Rivers is a brand-new podcast series from Warner Music Entertainment, celebrating the legacy, creativity, and power of British Black Music. Hosted by the vibrant duo of author and cultural historian Lloyd Bradley, and poet and music creative Rotimi Skyers.

Each week the pair will invite icons of British Black Music into the Warner podcast studio for a roundtable conversation, celebrating the sounds and stories that have defined British Black Music. Many Rivers will provide in-depth chats with some of the most culturally important artists of their generations and genres.

Guests in series one of the podcast include: Jazzie B the trailblazing founder of Soul II Soul, jazz legend Courtney Pine, Cookie Pryce of era defining rap duo Cookie Crew, breakthrough R&B sensation Jaz Karis, Kenny Wellington & Breeze McKreith stars of Brit-Funk band Light Of The World, and Lionel McCalman former leader of the pioneering Nostalgia Steelband.

In this fresh conversational space, the guests share their experiences and explore their journey; revealing pivotal moments, uncovering inspirations, and discussing the music that has shaped them. Listeners can expect spirited debates, deep-dives into iconic tracks, occasional tangents, and a celebration of the voices and movements that set British Blackness apart.

About Lloyd Bradley

Lloyd Bradley is a British music journalist and author, whose books include 2013's ‘Sounds Like London: 100 Years of Black Music in the Capital’ and 2001’s ‘Bass Culture’ on the history of reggae. He has worked on several magazine titles including Q, Empire, Maxim, Men’s Health and Runner’s World. Bradley is currently a freelance journalist and consultant. His contributions have been published in NME, Black Music magazine, The Guardian and Mojo, among others. He is also the co-curator of Black Sound London, an exhibition currently on at the Barbican Library until 19 July. More information on Black Sound London here.
