Luminary, a subscription podcast network, and UPROXX announced today that People’s Party with Talib Kweli will move to Luminary and become a Luminary Original podcast to Luminary subscribers next month.

People’s Party With Talib Kweli will remain available for all listeners on Luminary and other podcast platforms where it is currently available until July 5, 2021 when it will become available only to Luminary subscribers – either on the Luminary app or on the Luminary channel on Apple Podcasts. The video of each episode will be available widely on UPROXX’s YouTube channel the Monday following each episode launch. With the move to Luminay, UPROXX will continue to lead production and Dave Chappelle’s Pilot Boy Productions will join People’s Party With Talib Kweli as Executive Producer, a natural fit given Kweli’s work with Chappelle on the Luminary Original Podcast, The Midnight Miracle.

Monday’s episode will be the 101st episode of People’s Party with Talib Kweli, and will feature a conversation with Kweli and his friend, international artist and hip-hop legend yasiin bey. Together, bey and Kweli are Black Star. Black Star recently premiered their first new composition in more than 20 years on Episode 2 of their new Luminary Original podcast with Dave Chappelle, The Midnight Miracle, and announced they would be releasing a new Black Star album. This interview will be the first and only interview of its kind between the two Black Star rappers where they come together to discuss background on the album and why it has been so highly anticipated. During the episode, the two will discuss working together on the upcoming album, bey’s rise to fame, and his thoughts on stardom.

“People’s Party has been a labor of love and I am very proud of what we have accomplished over these first 100 episodes. It makes perfect sense for us to partner with Dave Chappelle’s Pilot Boy Productions going forward. Dave has always championed this culture that is based in hip hop and he is the vanguard for great art. The People’s Party is the world’s best podcast and now we have joined Luminary to become the sister podcast to the best podcast in the world, The Midnight Miracle. For me, being a part of both of them feels like when I dropped Black Star and Reflection Eternal over 20 years ago. I’m largely working with the same partners I had back then, so it’s a full circle moment for me,” said Kweli.

“Luminary welcomes People’s Party with Talib Kweli to our network and we are proud to be the home of Talib’s groundbreaking art,” said Luminary CEO Simon Sutton.

People’s Party With Talib Kweli, co-created by Talib Kweli and Jarret Myer, is a weekly interview show produced by UPROXX and hosted by hip-hop legend Talib Kweli. For two years, Kweli and co-host, actress, and comedian Jasmin Leigh have engaged with rap musicians, actors, cultural icons, and other creators each week to share diverse perspectives (and sometimes raw disagreements) on pressing topics. Areas of focus range from music to culture to politics to social justice. Guests range from A-list musicians to cultural progressives fighting for societal and political change. Previous guests have included: DMX, Ice Cube, Lil Kim, Macklemore, The Game, Ice Cube, Lamar Odom, Dax Shepard, Roy Choi, Chuck D., Michael Rapaport, and more, and the show has earned shout outs from notable names, including Bernie Sanders. “At UPROXX, we are focused on spotlighting the creators who move culture,” said Jarret Myer, Co-Founder of UPROXX. “People’s Party with Talib Kweli brings this mission to life. Kweli’s unparalleled passion and talent as an interviewer draws in guests who have defined hip-hop and pop culture—including some of the world’s most influential musicians, actors, activists, athletes, and political figures. Now, we are excited to amplify these conversations even further through the Luminary network and by bringing Dave Chappelle’s Pilot Boy Productions on board as Executive Producer.”

Steven Vasquez, Director of People’s Party with Talib Kweli, and Stephen Bramucci, Writer and Producer of People’s Party with Talib Kweli, have led UPROXX’s efforts to bring the show to fruition to-date. Listeners can subscribe to Luminary to access all episodes of People’s Party With Talib Kweli at luminarypodcasts.com. People’s Party With Talib Kweli will also be available to Luminary channel subscribers on Apple Podcasts. The video of each episode will be widely available on UPROXX’s YouTube channel the week following each episode’s launch.
