Literary Mama Expands This Mama Is Lit! Team with New Co-Hosts and Producer

Press Release ·

Literary Mama, the online literary magazine that has published writing about motherhood for more than two decades, has expanded the team behind its podcast, This Mama Is Lit!, with the addition of new co-hosts Sam Field (left) and Tiffanie Drayton (centre), and podcast producer Dana Wiker (right).

This Mama Is Lit! features conversations with mother writers about creativity, identity, and the experience of motherhood. In addition to Literary Mama’s six annual issues featuring creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, literary reflections, book reviews and profiles, the volunteer organization produces This Mama Is Lit! as part of its mission to amplify diverse voices and perspectives on motherhood.

Sam Field is a poet, queer trauma therapist, and workshop facilitator whose work explores motherhood, identity, and the nervous system. She leads writing groups and creative spaces, and her current poetry manuscript traces her journey into parenthood. Field brings a deep belief in the power of storytelling as a tool for connection and healing to her role as co-host.

Tiffanie Drayton is an award-winning writer, author, and cultural critic whose work examines race, migration, motherhood, and the psychological toll of the American Dream. She is the author of Black American Refugee: Escaping the Narcissism of the American Dream. Her writing has appeared in major publications including The New York Times, Marie Claire, NBC News Think, Vox, USA Today, and Salon, and her commentary has been featured on The Daily Show, PBS, NPR, and MSNBC.

“I’m so excited to join the creative space that once gave me a platform as both a mom and an author. Coming full circle as a co-host feels incredibly meaningful,” Drayton said.

“As a mom and writer I know the balance, commitment, and determination it takes to be a parent and a writer,” said Field, “so I am thrilled to be a co-host and part of a team that provides a platform for moms to share their work and magic with the world!”

Field and Drayton join as co-hosts, bringing new perspectives and voices to the show’s ongoing conversations. Wiker will oversee episode development, publishing, and marketing support for the podcast, working to expand the show’s reach and impact.

Wiker currently produces The Fabricator Podcast, which recently surpassed 100 episodes, and the Next-Gen Metal Fab Podcast for the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association. She is also a fellow in the Stony Brook University Podcast Incubator program, where she is developing an independent podcast focused on motherhood and identity.

“As a mother myself, it’s important to me to amplify other mothers’ voices,” Wiker said. “I know firsthand how challenging it can be to balance parenting, work, and creativity. I’m honored to join This Mama Is Lit! and support its thoughtful, candid conversations about motherhood and its commitment to inclusive storytelling.”
