Leading UK audio producer Listen Entertainment (Listen) is further growing its relationship with Audible, Amazon’s audio entertainment service, with a package of commissions including the first recommission of the hugely successful A Grown-up Guide format and its first project with Levi Roots.

A Grown-Up Guide to the Oceans follows the huge success of A Grown-Up Guide to Dinosaurs, a six-part series for all the family looking at cutting-edge dinosaur research. First released this summer in America, where it received rave reviews, it subsequently launched in the UK, Canada and Australia.

In six-part series A Grown-Up Guide to the Oceans, evolutionary biologist Professor Ben Garrod takes the listener on an oceanic journey from the beginning of life to the present day, discovering what the ocean actually is and why it’s so important in the evolutionary history of life and possibly the origin of life itself. It is produced by Eleanor Sans, who also produced A Grown-Up Guide to Dinosaurs.

Adam Uytman, Director of Content, Listen, says: “We are thrilled that our first release under the returnable ‘A Grown-Up Guide’ podcast format has been so successful, and it’s great to be following it up so quickly with a series exploring the oceans. We are delighted to be growing our relationship further with Audible on this and our other commissions.”

Listen has also been commissioned to make two additional series for Audible. Levi Roots: Flavours of Home and The Careers Couch. In the six-part series Levi Roots: Flavours of Home, British-Jamaican reggae musician and chef Levi Roots hosts a range of well-known guests as they cook recipes from their home whilst chatting about food, culture, life and work. In these personal interviews, Levi and his guests share their love of food and memories of growing up. The Careers Couch joins career change expert Selina Barker as she meets someone at a crossroads in their career. She unwraps their job issue and provides them with the tools they need to create their dream work-life. Each episode in the six-part series focuses on a different person with a different career change issue and gives the listener the opportunity to eavesdrop on real-life career coaching.

Josh Adley, Director of Commercial & Client Relations, Listen, adds: “Since Listen’s launch just two months ago, we have been inundated with interest in our work, particularly in formats for audio and returning series. This is coming from all areas - from brands, broadcasters, digital platforms, authors and on-screen talent - and it’s great to be at the forefront of such a booming area.”

Listen launched on 1 October as an instant production powerhouse creating world-class content across all audio sectors, helping clients to navigate the future of audio. Formed by Wisebuddah’s award-winning content team, Listen also acquired the content production business of Wisebuddah.

The company’s previous series for Audible include The Appliance of Science with Bill Bryson; Get Happy, looking at the science of happiness and how to become truly happy; Unlearn, unpicking toxic teachings around subjects such as consent and mental health; Hysteria! examining several bizarre cases of mass hysteria; and Speedway uncovering what happened to the once much-loved but now largely forgotten sport of Speedway racing.
