Laurel, Gary and Mark Classic Conversations Podcast launches

Press Release ·

Brisbane’s most beloved radio trio are back at it!

Who could interrogate the stylistic similarities between Brian Wilson and Harry Nilsson? Who, for that matter, could interrogate the stylistic similarities between Brian Cadd - and, your dad?

If you love interviews, & you love musicians… hell, if you love interviews with musicians - accompanied by mildly-irritating & unsolicited acapella - then you probably feel as lucky as Jed Clampett when he found Texas tea right now.

The Laurel Gary & Mark Classic Conversations Podcast is neither lucky, nor Texan. But, if I name dropped Neil Diamond, Barry Gibb, Gene Simmons, & Stevie Nicks, I’ m sure you could find something Texan related.

Thirty-two years together broadcasting on breakfast radio fashioned a Brisbane institution sharper than Stefan’s Skyneedle, and hotter than molten tomato in a pie you didn’t really want, but the others were vegan.

There’s only one team that could possibly outstay Phar Lap. One that’s had more comebacks than Wickety Wak. The lineage between Laurel, Gary, & the other guy.. is unequalled in Australian broadcast media. Stronger, is their obvious affections for the characters and narratives of classic rock and popular music.

With a genetic predisposition to talking, Laurel Edwards established herself as the voice of Brisbane’s iconic 4KQ for a staggering 30 years, which was honoured through her induction to the ACRA Hall of Fame.

During this time, the 4KQ breakfast show received five ACRA nominations for Best On-Air Team and was the #1 breakfast show in Brisbane during multiple dominant ratings periods. No small feat from the AM bandwidth.

Laurel, Gary, & Mark’s Classic Conversations explores legendary stories from a time when Auto-Tune was merely the name of a robot-mechanic in a Hanna Barbara cartoon.
