Beginning on September 1, Shelter in Place Executive Producer and Narrative Podcasts CEO Laura Joyce Davis will join the Stanford Storytelling Project (SSP) as a full-time lecturer and Managing Editor of SSP’s student-produced podcasts, including the award-winning State of the Human. Previous SSP lecturers included critically acclaimed producers Tiffany Naiman and Jake Warga.

Prior to joining SSP, Davis was one of Podcast Magazine Top 22 Influencers in Podcasting in 2022, and created 200 episodes of the narrative podcast Shelter in Place, which won the International Women’s Podcast Awards category for “Changing the World One Moment at a Time.” Davis also co-founded a PR News Social Impact Award-winning podcast training intensive with her writer husband Nate, and most recently created Narrative Podcast Labs, an online course. Before creating Shelter in Place, Davis was a WNYC podcast accelerator finalist, a Fulbright scholar, and an award-winning fiction writer.

“I am thrilled to join a program with a legacy of investing in students and building the future of audio storytelling,” said Davis. “It’s incredibly special to find such shared vision and values.”
