Kristin Myers Joins Sounds Profitable as Principal
Sounds Profitable, the leading podcast industry trade association and media intelligence company, announced at Podcast Movement in Washington D.C., the appointment of Kristin Myers as Principal. In this role, Kristin will work closely with founder Bryan Barletta and partner Tom Webster to drive the company’s mission of shaping the future of the audio industry.
With over a decade of experience in the audio industry, most recently as Executive Director within the Audio division at United Talent Agency (UTA), Kristin brings a wealth of expertise to Sounds Profitable. She will be instrumental in exploring untapped opportunities that extend audio into adjacent industries such as film and TV, books, gaming, non-profit sectors, and emerging technologies. Kristin’s appointment is set to enhance the association’s consulting capabilities, making her an invaluable resource for clients and partners.
Prior to UTA, Kristin held the position of Director of Business Development at Stitcher, which was later acquired by SiriusXM, supporting negotiations and strategy for Earwolf, Exactly Right Media and Team Coco as well as the launches and renewals for many of the platform’s tentpole programming. Kristin was the first hire at the NYC-based startup Anchor, acquired by Spotify in 2019, focused on developing community content strategy, partnerships, and supporting the app’s features roadmap holistically alongside the founders. As Creative Director at Dan Harmon’s Starburns Audio, Kristin focused on programming, monetization, and general operations alongside Dan Harmon, the Sklar Brothers, then newbie podcast “My Favorite Murder”, and “Small Doses with Amanda Seales”.
Remarked Myers, “I’ve worked in just about every corner of the audio industry, and I haven’t been bored a single day. There is meaningful connective tissue forming between audio and all other forms of media and storytelling. The job isn’t about defining audio any more. It’s the opposite. It’s about re-imagining its role and how it can make an impact. Good business in our industry will be about a holistic partnerships approach that makes it work for every person at the table. Great business will do that while bravely building something we haven’t seen yet. In every conversation I have with Bryan and Tom I am overwhelmed by a feeling of respect and excitement. They have an agnostic, informed, and fiercely curious approach to growing this space – and that’s exactly what you need to make magic happen.”
“Podcasting is now an unavoidable word in media. It’s weathered two decades of open growth, a pandemic fueled boom and bust, more than it’s fair share of SNL jokes at its expense, but ultimately, it’s proven just how valuable it is globally as a form of entertainment and information,” said Bryan Barletta, Founder, Sounds Profitable. “The addition of Kristin to the Sounds Profitable team adds immense value to our existing partners while simultaneously amplifying what we’ve built over the last four years to major industries that fully acknowledge audio, and podcasting, need to be part of their plan. We could not be more excited for this next phase of Sounds Profitable and podcasting overall.”
