The Just Enough Family explores new money and old secrets
PRESS RELEASE · New York, United States ·
Three Uncanny Four Productions, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment, announced the premiere of The Just Enough Family, a podcast hosted by New Yorker writer and bestselling author Ariel Levy. The eight-episode series tells the true story of the Steinberg family—who once thought of themselves as “the Jewish Kennedys”—through the memories of successful fashion designer and retail pioneer brand builder Liz Lange and other members of the family, who speak on the record for the first time about their stunning rise and fall. The first two episodes are available now with new episodes releasing every Thursday. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts to binge the entire season, ad-free starting today.
Lange, CEO and Head Designer of Figue, founder of the revolutionary maternity brand Liz Lange Maternity, and niece of the corporate raider and family patriarch Saul Steinberg, gives her close friend Levy an inside look at life in her family. Levy brings listeners startlingly unguarded conversations with all the members of Lange’s family, whose varying versions of how their seemingly invincible clan fell apart are woven together into a riveting tale of feuds, deceptions, profound family intimacy, over-the-top parties, unexpected losses, and shocking betrayals. Listeners get an unprecedented level of access to these characters and a front row seat to this high-profile family-therapy session.
“From the first time I heard Liz’s story I was mesmerized,” said host Ariel Levy, “and I know listeners will be, too. It’s a very American tale of ambition and a family’s glittering rise to the pinnacle of wealth and society, but it’s also a deeply intimate look at what it means to be a daughter, parent, or sibling— and an exploration of how much is enough.”
“When I was a child, I made up a story about living with the Just Enough Family: they could always get the next meal, they slept in one big bed, they weren’t hurting, but they had just enough…whereas we had way too much,” said star Liz Lange. “I grew up around crazy wealth--private planes, private helicopters, Park Avenue, multiple weekend/summer homes, you name it. This podcast is about what that was like, how all that money brought us together and—when it disappeared—tore us apart, and the way we all put ourselves back together again.”
“The Just Enough Family” is executive produced by Melinda Shopsin at Three Uncanny Four.
