Mozilla Foundation and PRX Release Season Eight of IRL Podcast
It’s a new season of the acclaimed technology podcast IRL: Online Life is Real Life, hosted by Bridget Todd. Produced by Mozilla Foundation in partnership with public media organization PRX, the four-part series launches on June 17.
Bridget tackles the tech on everyone’s minds this year: AI. There are fears about AI taking our jobs or becoming too intelligent in the future. But what about the AI that’s already here, just beneath the surface of our daily lives? Bridget’s reporting goes deep into the ways AI has infiltrated our social relationships and human rituals, from finding love to being our neighbor. She also talks to true innovators who are using AI to reconnect people to their personal histories.
“AI is already shaping all of our lives, from how insurance companies make healthcare decisions to how our cities are policed. Exploring these questions couldn’t be more timely. These aren’t just tech conversations. They’re conversations about people, our communities, and our lives,” said Bridget Todd, IRL podcast host and creator of There Are No Girls On The Internet.
Guests on this season of IRL include author Apryl Williams, neurodivergent dating app founder Jamie Johnston (Mattr), AI researcher and one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in AI, Sasha Luccioni; architect Marina Otero Verzier; Maria Paz Canales of Global Partners Digital; Center for Humane Technology founder Aza Raskin; and more.
The IRL podcast has tackled tech topics ahead of its time, from controversial mass AI experimentation to artists pushing the boundaries in the creative industry. The show has received several accolades, including Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards, and the Shorty Awards. The podcast was also a Tribeca X Award Official Selection at the 2024 Tribeca Festival.
IRL is available free on-demand across all major podcast listening platforms and at irlpodcast.org. The new season is made with PRX Productions.
