The Independent Podcast Awards To Return In 2024
The Independent Podcast Awards team is delighted to confirm that the event will return in 2024, with entries opening in Spring. The awards will take place at Kings Place in Kings Cross on Wednesday 23rd October.
Launched by whynow and Verbal Diorama in 2023 to great success, the awards celebrate the truly independent podcasts in the community. Those that don’t have huge brands behind them or celebrities fronting them.
The 2023 awards received over 350 entries, with more than 130 being shortlisted across 22 categories. The overall Independent Podcast of the Year was won by Celebrity Catchup: Life After That Thing I Did, hosted and produced by Genevieve Hassan.
Emma Turner, Head of Events & Publicity at whynow said: ‘We’re delighted to be bringing the Independent Podcast Awards back for their second year. We were blown away by the response last year, and we’re hoping that many more independent podcasters will enter their shows into this year’s awards.”
Em McGowan, co-founder of the awards and Host & Producer of Verbal Diorama said: “It was great to see the indie podcasting community get behind the awards last year, and I can’t wait to see what excellent shows get entered this year. We’ve got some new categories this year too, which will hopefully make the event even more accessible and inclusive.”
Independent podcasters are encouraged to go to the website now to sign up for the newsletter and be the first to hear when entries open: independentpodcastawards.com.
We’re also always looking to broaden our team of judges: people interested in getting involved or who would like more information about what this entails, please email Emma Turner on emma@whynow.co.uk
