Indigenous House, a New Native-Led Media Platform, Launches on Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2025, Indigenous House launchedas a digital home to podcasts, games, hot takes, film, shows, music, cooking, culture, comedy, and more. An evolution of IllumiNative — the Native women-led organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of and changing the narrative about Native people — the new digital media platform and YouTube channel is a celebration of Indigenous voices and marks a new chapter in the journey to amplify Native culture and community through creators and storytellers.

Indigenous House, and its digital cohort of Native creators, all with diverse voices, stories, and perspectives, showcase the beautiful vibrancy and breadth of Native communities and create a special space to celebrate Indigenous cultures. The platform takes a forward looking and bold approach to storytelling, culture, and commerce to shape a future rooted in joy, strength, and legacy. Flagship programming includes:

  • JADED – A video podcast series hosted by organizer, impact producer, and storyteller Jade Begay. The series takes audiences to new emotional spaces, offering intimate one-on-one conversations between Jade and some of the most interesting and consequential people of our time.

  • Taste Memory – Chef Claudia Serrato brings history and food together for a show that leverages Indigenous cuisine as a form of time travel, transporting viewers to their ancestral lands via delicious dishes.

  • Keep Your Fire Strong – Actor and host Thosh Collins explores masculinity in this podcast that blends physical and mental fitness with philosophical introspection.

  • One on One with Emcee One – DJ Emcee One welcomes the biggest and brightest names in art, music, business, and beyond for inspiring conversations about their journeys to the big time.

  • Chelsey Luger – Hosted by Chelsey Luger, this series explores the wellness aspect of how we dress, how we decorate our homes, and how we raise our children via the teachings passed down in Native communities.

  • Breaking History – Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist Mark Trahant brings to light versions of Native canon events that are often left out and excluded in history books.

  • Beyond Buckskin – Fashion businesswoman Jessica Metcalf puts the Native lens on the fashion industry while welcoming Native designers to speak their side of the business.

  • A’ngelee – Model and It Girl A’ngelee takes viewers behind the scenes of the fast paced life of an influencer running a model and events company.

  • EV Road Trip Across Navajo Nation – Dr. Len Necefer attempts to drive his electric Fiat across Indian Country using only EV charging stations found on reservations with the help of espresso.

“Indigenous House was created for and by Native people to celebrate and share our cultures, not only with each other, but the world,” said IllumiNative Founder Crystal Echo Hawk (pictured above, left). “Through our creators and original content, we’re able to share the beauty of community to a wider audience and continue to amplify Native perspectives from across the country. In celebration of its launch, Indigenous House hosted an Indigenous Peoples’ Day House Party, bringing together the YouTube cohort at The Bowery Terrace. The event began with fireside chats and panels from leading talent in engaging discussion on topics such as Food & Tradition and Sacred Lessons: Exploring Men’s Healing. The evening’s host, Alyssa London, a Tlingit storyteller, author, and CEO of Culture Story and NBC News Contributor, led the evening’s programming with entertainment from hip-hop artistSupaman and hoop dancer Eric Michael Hernandez. DJ Emcee One kept the party going for the 200 guests as they interacted with Indigenous House creators and perused the Indigenous Marketplace featuring artisans such as Copper Canoe Woman, Jen Younger Jewelry, and Urban Native Era. James Beard award-winning chef Sean Sherman, the Sioux Chef, featured a culinary installation presenting the diversity of native plants and proteins and offered an exclusive first look at his upcoming cookbook, Turtle Island. A collaboration with the design lab Amplifier, the event was sponsored by Elevate Prize Foundation and Decolonizing Wealth Project.
