Heard Storytelling launches new, inspirational podcast championing everyday people
Heard Storytelling is launching a new, inspirational series of podcasts, where the power of spoken stories take centre stage.
The Manchester based spoken stories company specialises in creating safe and empowering opportunities to tell true stories out loud. They do this to create a platform for unheard voices, with the aim of bringing communities closer, making businesses better and ultimately deepening connections. Recent Heard exhibitions include PROUD, a nationwide audio-visual exhibition that amplifies the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community, ‘RISE: Stories of Healing & Hope’, an outdoor exhibition commissioned by the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance (MIHP) to showcase the transformative impact of MIHP’s rehabilitation programmes, and ‘Take Heart’, an initiative to support Nuffield’s ‘Under Pressure’ campaign, in which Heard developed true stories of love with the community, culminating with a street art mural, a vibrant emblem of love, unity and storytelling’s power to connect.
Launching on February 27th, the Heard Storytelling podcast features a lineup of storytellers from diverse backgrounds, each sharing their personal journey and the profound impact it has had on their lives. The series will include two weekly episodes, one full length podcast featuring one truly transformational, compelling story, and one bite-sized episode with Heard co-founders Caroline Dyer and Colette Burroughs-Rose, who discuss the intricacies of storytelling and the transformative power it can have on both the storyteller, and the listener.
Storytellers include Karl, who shares his transformative journey towards sobriety, a path that began with a life-altering wake-up call, Augustine, whose story revolves around the impact of being adopted as an adult, and his experiences as a black, gay, Christian individual in the church, and Col, whose story highlights the incredible, life changing impact of a small act of kindness.
Colette Burroughs-Rose, co-founder of Heard Storytelling, said: “We love helping people to unearth, shape and share their stories, and over the past few years, we’ve had the honour of helping some truly remarkable people do just that. Seeing these stories at our exhibitions and live events resonate with so many people inspired us to look at how we could share them with a wider audience, and so the Heard Storytelling podcast was born.”
