Industry Leaders Unite at Inaugural Health Podcast Summit to Set the Standards for Health Podcasting Excellence
Mission Based Media today announced the launch of Health Podcast Summit, a groundbreaking virtual event taking place October 1-2, 2025, to coincide with Health Literacy Month. This inaugural summit represents the first industry gathering exclusively focused on elevating standards of evidence-based health communication through podcasting.
The two-day virtual summit comes at a pivotal moment when trusted health voices are needed more than ever. Edison Research reported in March that podcast consumption has reached an all-time high with 55% of Americans age 12+ now being monthly consumers, up from 47% in 2024. Research by Lee et al. (2022) revealed that healthcare professionals and parents/caregivers agreed on the same top three quality indicators for podcasts: accuracy of information, clear distinction between fact and opinion, and qualified hosts.
Despite this growth and impact, organizations and podcast creators often struggle to find comprehensive guidance on best practices for producing, sharing, and growing health podcasts that are both engaging and evidence-based.
“There are some incredible health podcasts being created, and we see a tremendous need for even more access to evidence-based information shared by authentic voices,” said Dan Kendall, founder of Mission Based Media and creator of Health Podcast Network. “Research demonstrates the power of audio-first learning, with one study showing nursing students achieved an average of 11.54% improvement in knowledge after listening to just one 60-minute podcast. At Health Podcast Summit, we’re bringing together leaders in health and podcasting to openly explore the standards and best practices that help distinguish trustworthy content while maximizing this proven educational tool’s impact.”
Health Podcast Summit features podcast industry veterans Bryan Barletta and Tom Webster, co-founders of Sounds Profitable; Gabriel Soto, Senior Director at Edison Research; and James Cridland, editor of Podnews, as well as experts from leading health agencies, organizations, shows, and brands who are successfully utilizing audio to engage patients and educate professionals.
The summit is designed for healthcare executives, medical professionals, pharmaceutical and device companies, health system marketers, patient advocacy organizations, and healthcare agencies ready to embrace podcasts as part of their omnichannel strategies. Sessions will focus on practical implementation, from building trust through authentic storytelling to measuring real-world impact on patient outcomes and clinical practice.
“For nearly 20 years, our podcast audience research has tracked the medium’s explosive growth and its unmatched ability to foster engagement, community, and identity,” says Gabriel Soto, Senior Director at Edison Research. “We look forward to unveiling how these findings — along with new data — can help healthcare professionals educate and build trust with their audiences.”
Registration for the virtual summit is completely free to ensure that anyone involved in the promotion of health, science, and medicine has complete access to the information needed to succeed. By removing barriers of cost, time, and location, we’re advancing our mission to deliver trusted health information to 1 billion listeners worldwide.
Recordings will be available on-demand following the event. Reigster here
