Greg James becomes Creative Director of the Crossed Wires podcast festival

Press Release · Sheffield, UK ·

Greg James joins the Crossed Wires team as Creative Director to help grow the podcast festival. He becomes a co-owner of the business alongside Alice Levine (Co-host My Dad Wrote A Porno and British Scandal); Dino Sofos (Founder and CEO, Persephonica) and James O’Hara (Co-founder, Tramlines and Day Fever).

Crossed Wires brings the biggest names in podcasting to Sheffield for a weekend of live shows, never-seen-before performances, special guests, DJ sets, Q&As and fan events. The festival returns for its second year between Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July andpromises to be even bigger and better.

Alongside presenting the nation’s beloved BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Greg is co-host of the famed Tailenders podcast, together with international cricketer James Anderson and ex-The Maccabees guitarist Felix White, which has been releasing weekly for over seven years.

Greg James says, “After banging on about how amazing podcasts are for 20 years, I’m glad the world’s finally caught on. It’s so great that they’re such a huge part of culture that a festival about podcasts is even a thing. I went to Crossed Wires last year to see what all the fuss was about and immediately fell in love with its ambition and mission statement to not only bring some of the biggest names in the industry to Sheffield, but to find the next generation of on and off-air stars from it.”

"Year one was a knock out and we are going even bigger and more ambitious for year two. There isn’t a live event like this in the country; a combination of smash hit podcasts, a free fringe making top quality talent accessible to all, after shows, meet and greets for fans - filling multiple iconic venues in Sheffield city centre. We really feel like we are growing something very special and we’re very excited to have Greg on the team”.– Alice Levine, Crossed Wires Co-founder

"Greg James played such a big role in last year’s event, so it seemed quite natural for him to join the team in an official capacity. We couldn’t ask for a more talented, ambitious and well-connected Creative Director to help us grow the festival over the next few years. He’s already pulled in some amazing shows for this summer’s festival that we can’t wait to announce over the coming weeks. Watch this space!” – Dino Sofos, Crossed Wires Co-founder

Two headline acts have been announced so far. Help I Sexted My Boss, hosted by DJ Jordan North and Etiquette Expert William Hanson, has already sold-out Sheffield’s City Hall on Saturday 5th July for their only live show of 2025. No Such Thing As A Fish will take the stage at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday 6th July, where the famous QI researchers share the most bizarre and hilarious facts they’ve discovered that week.

Further lineup to be announced on Tuesday 15th April.
