First Podcast Publisher for Free Children’s Content, GoKidGo, Launches with Original Shows
This article is at least a year old
GoKidGo, the first publisher exclusively creating free narrative podcasts for children, has been launched. GoKidGo was founded by New York Times bestselling children’s author Patrick Carman, entrepreneur Jennifer Clary, and Los Angeles film executive Maia Glikman (ABC Network, Lucasfilm, Sony).
Its veteran production team includes Emmy Award-winning Llama Llama and Hey Arnold! writer Joe Purdy and three-time Emmy nominee and Annie Award-nominated music director Mike Himelstein, whose songs have appeared in everything from Shrek to Saturday Night Live.
“Even prior to the pandemic, children’s average daily screen time was already twice the limit recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics,” says Founder Patrick Carman. “GoKidGo aims to tackle plummeting literacy rates and screen time head on and empower parents with a fun, free resource.”
“Additionally, there is a strong correlation between children who listen to podcasts and children who read,” Carman adds. “Children who listen to podcasts enjoy reading (47.8% compared to 40.8%) and read daily (30.4% compared to 27%) compared with those who don’t.”
GoKidGo podcasts are free and available on Apple, Spotify, and all major podcast platforms. They’re supported by partnerships with Workhouse Media, ART19, and pocket.watch. You can watch the trailer here: https://fb.watch/5DJBv2wGd4/
Podcasts include R.L. Stine’s Story Club, Bobby Wonder and Lucy Wow
