Global to launch new investigative podcast show A Very British Epstein with Emily Maitlis
Global, the Media & Entertainment group, today Monday 14 September, announced a major new six-part investigative podcast series, A Very British Epstein, set to launch in 2027.
The series will be hosted by award-winning journalist and The News Agents podcast co-host Emily Maitlis, who conducted the now infamous 2019 interview with the former Prince Andrew, confronting him about his links to Jeffrey Epstein.
A Very British Epstein explores Jeffrey Epstein’s connections to Britain, beginning with his time in the UK in the 1980s, when he was introduced to the worlds of shadow finance and Britain’s social elite. The series asks what happened in the UK, who opened doors for Epstein here, and how those early connections helped shape the web of money, status and influence around him.
Across six episodes, Emily Maitlis investigates the accepted timeline of Epstein’s life in Britain, asking whether this earlier chapter was more significant than previously understood. Rather than treating Britain as a footnote in Epstein’s story, the series explores whether it was, in fact, a foundation, where key relationships were formed and proximity to wealth and influence helped build his world.
Drawing on exclusive interviews with survivors, alongside conversations with those who encountered Epstein and his circle in Britain, the series explores how Epstein established himself within influential networks and what his British connections reveal about the rise of his power and influence.
Emily Maitlis said: “Much of the public understanding of Jeffrey Epstein focuses on the US and on the final years of his life. This series asks a different question: what happened in Britain, and how important was the UK to the story of how Epstein built his world, his influence and his connections?”
Vicky Etchells, Director of Podcasts at Global said: “This is a bold and deeply important investigation led by Emily with real rigour and determination. We believe A Very British Epstein will be the definitive examination of Epstein’s British story, tracing how his connections moved through wealth, privilege and power in the UK, and asking serious questions about the people and structures that helped him gain legitimacy here.”
A Very British Epstein is produced by Global Studios and Sonoloom and will be available to watch on YouTube, on Global Player and all major podcast platforms next year.
