About Gaylinn

Each week, Gaylinn explores the worst, weird, and wonderful of gnath-thaithi an tsaoil, from the football pitch to the cluuurb. Na rudaí is measa, is aistí, agus is iontaí about life as we know it. Spilling the tea (and the stór focail) along the way. So whether you’re fully fluent, or starting from scratch, this podcast is for you. And creid uaimse é, you definitely didn’t learn any of this in school. They will be trauma dumping from the minefield of dating in Dublin and dropping their hot takes na seachtaine ar gach rud. So buckle up bitches - because brushing up on your Gaeilge never sounded so good!

Who are the hosts?

Cian Griffin is a content creator, activist, radio and TV personality working in the LGBTQ+ sphere. From Wicklow originally, Cian has a masters in Irish and goes by the alias Gaylgeoiri online where he advocates for LGBTQ+ rights and promotes the Irish language - teaching the Irish you DIDN’T learn in school.

Ciarán Murphy is a creative director and marketing educator from Dublin. He is working to become fluent in Gaeilge and believes that you need to move past the negative experiences you had with the language in school and take full advantage of the many new ways that you can learn and incorporate Gaeilge into your daily life.

Cathal O’Sullivan is a radio producer, TV contributor and content creator from Laois.

Cathal grew up with a solid knowledge of the Irish language, but is rusty now and keen to increase confidence with using the language at every opportunity! Working in commercial radio, he sees how important the Irish language has become to people on-air and around the country.

What The Hosts Say

‘Gaeilge is more than just a school subject, it’s a modern, living language and Gaylinn is gonna teach you the Irish you definitely won’t find in a school book (from poppers and threesomes, to Gen-Z slang and tactical voms - we’ve cover it all). I’ve a masters in Irish, and I’ve built a community on social media around the Irish language. Gaylinn is my way of taking it to the next level.’

  • Cian

‘Forget about your experience with the language in school, forget about the poems you had to learn off by heart - Gaylinn is a fresh and accessible start for people who wantmore Gaeilge in their lives. Not being able to speak Gaeilge fluently or having the confidence to use what Gaeilge we do have is something a lot of us carry shame about, and this is why we decided to start this podcast.’

  • Ciarán

‘I’ve always had a huge grá for Gaeilge but I neglected it after school and my level of Irish really took a hit. In the past few years, working in the radio industry it’s become something that more and more broadcasters are fluent and speaking bilingually to the masses. When this podcast came about - it was like starting from scratch for me, and that’s ok, I am still learning. I want to educate myself with more Irish and be more fluent.’

  • Cathal
