Crowd Network, Stuart Broad, and Jos Buttler come to the crease with new podcast _For The Love Of Cricket
Crowd Network (Crowd), the home of athlete-owned podcasts, is launching new show For The Love Of Cricket with Stuart Broad and Jos Buttler.
Just as fellow Crowd podcast For The Love Of Rugby does for its sport, For The Love Of Cricket will see Stuart and Jos sharing their unique first-hand insights of what it’s really like to play the game at the elite level — in decisive Ashes Tests, in World Cup finals, in England and across the world at the game’s most famous venues. They’ve played with and against the greatest players of the last 20 years, and they’ve been friends all the way through. This is them taking all of us inside the boundary rope.
Stuart Broad CBE is one of England’s greatest ever cricketers. He took 604 wickets in 167 Test matches for the national team, and was ODI and T20I England captain. He was famed for his astonishing spells of bowling, particularly against Australia, including an unforgettable 8-15 in the fourth Ashes Test in 2015. Since retiring in 2023 Broad has developed a lauded media career, with For The Love Of Cricket marking his latest venture.
Stuart Broad, co-host of For The Love Of Cricket, said: “I’ve been thinking about starting a cricket podcast for a long time, and this is exactly how I want to do it. I love spending time with Jos, and I’m looking forward to everyone else getting to know the version I do. I think I saw quite a lot in my cricketing career — I can’t wait to share all I learned with our listeners.”
Jos Buttler MBE is widely regarded as England’s greatest ever white-ball cricketer. Part of the side that won the 50-over World Cup at Lord’s in 2019, he is a destructive batter and wicket-keeper, and captained England as they won the 2022 T20 World Cup. No one has more runs or catches for England in T20 cricket.
Jos Buttler, co-host of For The Love Of Cricket, said: “With India coming over for a Test series and then an Ashes series in Australia this winter, this is a massive year for English cricket. The title of the pod says it all: Broady and I still love the game, and we want to take everyone along with us. I’m also excited — and a little bit nervous — about showing more of the real me, but that’s what the best podcasts do.”
The new show follows the success of Crowd’s For The Love Of Rugby, starring England legends Dan Cole and Ben Youngs, which launched in January 2024. It has since grown creatively and commercially to become one of the biggest rugby podcasts in the world, and recently completed its first nationwide live tour.
For The Love Of Cricket is the latest example of Crowd’s commitment to providing athletes with meaningful careers post-retirement. It is the second in a stack of new shows for the network, with Long Story Short — fronted by former Lionesses Jill Scott and Karen Carney — launching on 11th June. Crowd’s model provides hosts with podcast ownership, and Crowd works with them to secure impactful partnerships between their podcasts and big brands.
Through its network of sports podcasts, Crowd already works with brands like Sage, Škoda, and BrewDog on hit shows including We Are Chelsea. This allows businesses to create multichannel content machines that access engaged listener communities.
Mike Carr, CEO of Crowd Network, said: “Expanding into cricket has been a big ambition for us, and we’re thrilled to welcome Stuart and Jos to our community of athletes. Our athlete-ownership model provides creative freedom for the talent we work with, giving Stuart and Jos the independence to make the show they want with our guidance. For brands wanting to target cricket fans, this is the place to be.”
The first episode of For The Love Of Cricket will be available on all streaming platforms on 10th June.
