Acast Scores Deal with Footy Prime The Podcast
Acast, the world’s largest independent podcast company, announced today that the leading Canadian soccer podcast Footy Prime has joined the Acast Creator Network. Footy Prime The Podcast began captivating listeners in 2019 and today is ranked as the number one soccer podcast produced in Canada. The podcast is hosted by former Premier League and Canadian National Soccer team players Craig Forrest, Amy Walsh, Jimmy Brennan and TV personalities James Sharman, Dan Wong and Jeff Cole.
“Footy Prime has captured Canadian hearts – and ears — for nearly five years with their coverage and conversations about the world of soccer. As North America begins preparations for hosting the next World Cup, Footy Prime and its listeners will be an incredible asset to the Acast Creator Network and our growing roster of podcast advertisers,” said Development Manager for the Acast Creator Network Yael Strasberg.
Footy Prime covers the English Premier League, Major League Soccer, and many other International leagues as well as the full International Calendar, and releases three to four episodes a week for fans to enjoy. The wide-ranging content contains a mix of news recaps, heartfelt stories, comedic commentary, in-depth conversation, and guest interviews. Former star guests include Head Coach of Toronto FC John Herdman, CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani, Olympic gold medalist Steph Labbe, comedian Gerry Dee and Hockey Night in Canada’s David Amber. Footy Prime has also covered major international events including the 2022 World Cup.

Since launch, Footy Prime has also grown to work with a broad range of advertisers through both host-read and dynamically inserted ads. The team has worked with a variety of brands across the food and beverage space, sports betting apps, and more. Footy Prime will now be available to advertisers across Canada and around the world through Acast’s dedicated sales team.
“The journey that Footy Prime has had over the past five years has been nothing short of monumental. Joining the Acast Creator Network is the next step in that trajectory to reach new audiences and to work with more brands both across Canada and globally who share our passion for this beautiful game,” said Dan Wong, co-creator and presenter, Footy Prime.
As the most popular sport globally, soccer and the never-ending stories that stem from the pitch continue to capture audiences from around the world and across mediums. While soccer is most often known for its grasp on European culture, according to Podchaser, nearly 40% of soccer podcast listenership is in North America.
