London, UK—Do The Right Thing - the hilarious, occasionally absurd and frequently obscene live panel game podcast where comedians try to work out the right thing to do in weird and wild situations - returns on 6 August 2019. The new 12-part series - the seventh in all, and the first since 2016 – sees the return of regular host Danielle Ward, team captains Michael Legge and Margaret Cabourn-Smith and producer Ben Walker.

The guest comedians are Aisling Bea, Benjamin Partridge, Bethany Black, Bridget Christie, Caroline Mabey, Darren Harriott, David Reed, Deborah Frances-White, Glenn Moore, Heidi Regan, Joe Lycett, Lou Conran, Lucy Porter, Miles Jupp, Neil Edmond, Rachel Fairburn, Richard Herring, Rick Edwards, Rufus Hound, Sara Barron, Sarah Millican, Tawny Newsome, Vivienne Acheampong and Will Andrews.

As ever the show considers a variety of strange and extreme scenarios. This series they include the right way to deal with a snake bite, the correct way to shake hands, how to break down a door and what to do to impress your future parents-in-law. The panel go on to ‘agony aunt’ the audience (what to do if your dog tries to join in when you’re having sex, whether to own up about £10,000 being transferred into your bank account in error and how to come clean to your girlfriend who thinks you have a terminal illness when you don’t). They also learn from various expert guests who this series include Suede’s Bassist Mat Osman, podcasters the Scummy Mummies, a world-record-holding marathon runner, a dominatrix, a vicar, a fire fighter, a midwife and a Professor of Worms.

The podcast has previously been noted as “An antidote to man-heavy ‘I’m funnier than you’ panel shows” (The Guardian, 2016) and is often cited in articles and discussions about the balance of female and male comedians on comedy panel shows. True to form, this new series has more female guests (both comedians and experts) than male.

Danielle Ward says “Do The Right Thing is my absolute favourite thing to work on until I started writing Idris Elba’s sitcom and once sat next to him so obviously that was better.”

Margaret Cabourn-Smith comments “I think of Do The Right Thing as my third, and weirdest child. This series has been the loveliest bane of my life.”

Michael Legge chips in with “This series was easily the most fun series we’ve recorded, for me. I loved it so much I don’t think I told Margaret to shut up once.”

The series starts 6 August 2019 and releases weekly on Tuesdays for 12 weeks.
