CrimeCon, the world’s leading true crime event, is coming to Manchester for the first time. Hosted at etc.venues on Saturday 27th September, the award-winning event promises a packed line-up of leading experts discussing all things true crime. As this the inaugural CrimeCon Manchester, the organisers are delighted that Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carmine Grimshaw will be opening proceedings.
Partnering with leading factual entertainment channel and true crime destination, TRUE CRIME, CrimeCon Manchester will bring together prominent speakers, including Consultant Forensic Psychologist Kerry Daynes and TV favourite retired Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton from The Real Manhunter. He will be hosting a CrimeCon first - a session on what goes on behind the scenes when leading a murder team.
The event will also feature topical panels including a powerful session on the Manchester Arena Bombing led by award-winning Northern Editor of The Times and novelist David Collins, who will be discussing the impact of horrendous terror attack with medical experts from Wythenshawe Hospital.
Duncan Craig OBE, founder and Chief Executive of We Are Survivors, a Manchester-based charity dedicated to supporting male survivors of sexual abuse will be interviewing survivors. This session reflects CrimeCon’s commitment to victim advocacy and will no doubt be powerful and insightful. The schedule also include talks from renowned historian and Sunday Times bestselling author Professor Carl Chinn MBE, who will speak about The Real Peaky Blinders plus there will be an expert panel having an honest debate about the brutal reality of crime in the North.
Across a one-day programme, CrimeCon Manchester will welcome top-level documentary makers, investigative journalists, popular podcasters, renowned criminologists, and true crime authors.
Nancy Baughen, Event Director of CrimeCon UK, said: “Fans of true crime are not macabre fans of serial killers or psychopaths, far from it, instead they are sympathetic and empathetic fans of justice who are intrigued by the mysteries and supportive of the survivors. We have hours of wide-ranging, compelling, and informative content making it a must-attend event for all true crime enthusiasts.”
CrimeCon Manchester, in partnership with TRUE CRIME channel, takes place on Saturday 27th September 2025 at etc.venues Manchester, Piccadilly.
