Comic Relief and Acast today announce an industry-first audio partnership. The charity and the world’s leading podcast company will work together to use the power of podcasts to reach and engage new audiences for Comic Relief projects. Listeners will hear targeted, dynamic messages about Comic Relief’s work powered by Acast’s leading advertising platform, which will be heard exclusively across Acast’s thousands of UK podcasts from November 2019. The partnership offers the opportunity to reach millions of listeners, building awareness of the Comic Relief’s projects through Acast’s global audience whilst trialling a new way of fundraising.

Charlotte Hillenbrand, Comic Relief’s Executive Director of Digital & Innovation, said: ‘Acast has a fantastic rollcall of podcasters – audio presents a unique opportunity to capture the imagination, connect listeners to stories and to move people to act. Comic Relief is excited to join the Acast family and reach a global audience with this partnership. We work year-round to help the most vulnerable people here in the UK and internationally experiencing homelessness, mental ill-health, domestic abuse, poverty and injustice. Working with Acast is a fantastic opportunity to bring audiences closer to social change, and highlights the difference we can all make and spur people on to get involved, whether that’s donating or joining Comic Relief’s movement of determined optimists.’

Susie Warhurst, SVP of Content at Acast, said: ‘Acast is proud to partner with Comic Relief and help support the fantastic work they do tackling inequality and injustice around the world. We have the ears of millions of people across the UK to listen to the life changing projects made possible by Comic Relief – not to mention a shared love of comedy, with Acast being home of much-loved podcasts including Off Menu, The Adam Buxton Podcast and Do The Right Thing. We look forward to bringing new ways for people to support Comic Relief and amazing work they do”
