Sir David Suchet Narrates the Haunting tales of Charles Dickens Ghost Stories in new Noiser Podcast
Acclaimed actor Sir David Suchet, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot, lends his unmistakable voice to a chilling new nine-episode audio drama series, Charles Dickens Ghost Stories from award-winning UK podcast network Noiser, from December 1st.
Charles Dickens’ Ghost Stories revitalises seven of the literary master’s most atmospheric and spine-tingling tales. Kept in their original form and retold with warmth and gravitas in distinctive Suchet style, the series debuts with a double-episode premiere of A Christmas Carol, one of the most retold festive stories of redemption.
Dickens’ timeless wintery tale will then be followed each week with the release of a new story. Highlights from the seven-story collection include:
-
The Signal-Man – A psychological ghost story inspired by a real train accident that haunted Dickens. Originally released Christmastime 1866.
-
The Trial for Murder – A grim tale of justice from beyond the grave.
-
The Ghost in the Bride’s Chamber – A mysterious story of love, secrets, and a lingering presence.
-
A Madman’s Manuscript – A man in a Victorian lunatic asylum is haunted by the ghost of his dead wife.
The version of A Christmas Carol that Sir David narrates for Noiser was performed by Charles Dickens himself in 1853. Reflecting the great author’s commitment to making his work accessible to all, Dickens insisted that tickets were sold at a quarter of the usual price, to ensure everyone could afford to experience it.
Available free on all podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify and ad-free on BBC Sounds, Noiser+ listeners also get access to two additional episodes on early release, as well as over 500 exclusive episodes across the Noiser catalogue of shows.
