CBC Launches New Spring/Summer 2026 Podcast Slate

Press Release · via CBC Radio-Canada ·

CBC, the #1 Canadian podcaster, is launching a new spring/summer slate of original podcasts, including in-depth investigations, candid personal revelations, and lighthearted comedy. CBC’s entire podcast collection can be found on CBC Listen and everywhere podcasts are available. Select titles can also be streamed on YouTube.

New Podcasts

  • The Big Five (April 20)

    • A 10-episode comedy podcast hosted by musician Donovan Woods and Tom Power of CBC’s Q. Each episode features lighthearted debates on “the big 5” in different categories—objectively the Big 5, not the best, top, or favorite. Topics include farm animals, types of hats, slang terms for “butt,” ways to cook a potato, and guys named Paul. Guests include Vivek Shraya, Jordan Canning, William Prince, Lindsay Ell, Elamin Abdelmahmoud, and more.

  • Uncover: The Expert Witness (May 11)

    • A 9-episode investigative series hosted by Sam Mullins (Sea of Lies). The season explores a mysterious AI tool called Cybercheck, used in Akron, Ohio, to solve cold murder cases by placing suspects at crime scenes using open-source data—without witnesses. Defense attorney Don Malarcik teams up with lawyers, investigators, and journalists to uncover how the secretive Canadian-founded technology works, who benefits, and who is accountable if AI gets it wrong.
  • Understood: Artificial Intimacy (May 19)

    • A 4-episode season hosted by Victoria Hetherington (The Friend Machine). The series examines intimate human relationships with chatbots, including people who have married their bots or used AI to grieve lost loved ones. It explores what we gain and lose—our intimacy, resilience, and grasp on reality—when digital avatars enter the most personal parts of our lives.
  • Personally: Discount Dave (and The Fix) (June 9)

    • A 5-episode first-person storytelling series hosted by Rebecca Auerbach. The harrowing and humorous memoir-autofiction blend recounts Becca’s wild youth in Vancouver circa 2005, her obsession with a man claiming to be Van Halen’s David Lee Roth, and how that night led to personal reckoning, healing, and truth.
  • Uncover: The Mile Zero Murders (August 10)

    • A 7-episode investigative series hosted by Timothy Sawa. The season investigates a chilling pattern of disappearances and murders in Dawson Creek, B.C. Building on The Fifth Estate’s earlier reporting, Sawa follows leads from grieving families, guarded authorities, and insiders to uncover what’s happening in the community and why no one is being held accountable.
