CauseCasts Casts New Light on Charities in Podcasting

This article is at least a year old

Cherry Hill NJ, US—If your aim is to make a positive impact locally or globally with your podcasting show, South Jerseyan Mathew Passy has a place for you to share it. Passy recently launched and hosts CAUSECASTS – Podcasts for a Cause (www.causecasts.org), a podcast that focuses on people and organizations who do good, bringing light to their own charitable podcasts.

While Passy, seasoned in the podcasting industry, has hosted and produced a number of successful podcast shows including Invest “Like the Best,” “The Opt Out Life,” and “The Meb Faber Show,” the CAUSECASTS show is not about wealth and finances. CAUSECASTS is a passion project of Passy, and the aim is to interview individuals who are using podcasts to raise awareness for a good cause, whether it is for a non-profit, charity, medical cause, or a social justice movement.

“I see a lot of amazing podcasters using this medium to make a positive impact on the world, and not getting the attention they deserve. I thought CAUSECASTS would be a great way to highlight those folks who aren’t in it for the money, but who are doing it for more noble causes,” says Passy.

To date, the CAUSECAST podcast has welcomed guests such as Lee Silverstein, host of the “WE Have Cancer” podcast. Silverstein created his podcast a few years ago as a way to inspire hope and connection within the community of people affected by cancer. James Thomas, host of the “Four Seas One Family” podcast was also a recent guest. His podcast shows the common human experience and breaks down the barriers that divide us. As an American immigrant who now lives and works in Taiwan, James’ experiences in Asia have taught him so much of the connectedness and shared nature of the human race.

“This project isn’t just about raising awareness for these shows. I am hoping to also raise funds for the causes that these podcasters support,” Passy says. “A donation page accompanies every episode of CAUSECASTS with all proceeds going directly to charity of the hosts’ choice, whether it’s the one they podcast on behalf of, or just one that they are passionate about.”

Listeners can subscribe to CAUSECASTS on Apple, Google, Android, and Spotify. For help, resources, and community support, interested parties can also join the Causecasters’ Facebook group page, especially if they are already producing podcasts for a cause or are thinking about launching one.
