Nominations Open for the 9th Canadian Podcast Awards

Press Release · Toronto ON, Canada · via Canadian Podcast Awards ·

Nominations for the 9th Canadian Podcast Awards open today, and the people choosing the winners are the ones who make Canadian podcasts.

Members who work in Canadian podcasting can nominate any eligible show, including their own, across 31 categories spanning comedy, true crime, arts, sports, current affairs, and more. The most nominated shows in each category go to a vote by all members, and the public gets its say through the People’s Choice category.

Not a member yet? Anyone who is Canadian and works in podcasting can register for free at http://canpodawards.ca.

Eligible shows are Canadian-produced, with a primarily Canadian team and majority Canadian hosts, and released at least five episodes in 2025.

Last year, members submitted more than 2,200 nominations, and the number of people nominating grew by more than a third. Nominations close November 14 at http://canpodawards.ca, voting runs November 17 to December 2, and the winners are revealed in an online broadcast on December 16.

“We Canadians have a habit of waiting for someone else, somewhere else, to tell us our work matters. These awards exist so that the people making Canadian podcasts can recognize each other and say that the shows made here deserve to be celebrated here. Canadian culture has long been easy to take for granted, but backing our own voices matters more now than ever. If we don’t celebrate Canadian podcasts, nobody will do it for us.”
John Leschinski, Founder, Canadian Podcast Awards
