Wave: Brighton Podcast Festival announce the first wave of their programme for Spring 2019. Across the month of April 2019 a range of live events across the city will allow audiences to sit in on and enjoy some of the best loved and most popular podcasts currently on the airwaves, from lifestyle to film to comedy to music. Taking place as unique one time only live recordings, the events will feature special guests and new material from a range of well loved podcasters.
No Such Thing as A Fish (2 April, Brighton Dome)
The team behind award-winning podcast No Such Thing As A Fish are hitting the road again in Spring 2019, with their brand new show, ‘In No Particular Order’. Now in its fifth year, No Such Thing As A Fish is at the forefront of the British podcast scene. The team have performed live across the world as well as writing two books and making two series, the hit BBC Two show No Such Thing As The News and releasing a podcast exclusively on vinyl in a fruitless attempt to be on trend. The show will feature a performance of a live, un-edited and unscripted podcast, as well as a brand new first half in which the team will talk about the most extraordinary, bizarre and hilarious things they’ve come across in the months since the last tour. There will be facts, jokes and tall tales about octopus genitals, Charles Darwin’s bassoon, and potentially everything in-between.
Films To Be Buried With (7 April, Old Market)
We are born. We die. In between we watch a lot of films. And some of these films shape the people we are. This is a podcast about those films. (And a bit about death.) Join comedian, actor, writer and swimmer Brett Goldstein and an extra special weekly guest as they go all the way into life and death by way of movies, to ultimately pick their Films To Be Buried With!
CTRL ALT DELETE (8 April, Komedia)
The hit lifestyle podcast Ctrl Alt Delete discusses work, social media and careers and features guests such as Lena Dunham, Gillian Anderson, Elizabeth Gilbert, Ava Duvernay and Greta Gerwig and is hosted by writer/ broadcast Emma Gammon. It has now reached over 2 million downloads and was picked as ‘Editor’s Choice’ on iTunes multiple times. It was recently listed in the Times’ top 20 podcasts to download, ELLE UK’s ‘podcasts that will boost your career’ and Marie Claire’s ‘career changing podcasts’.

Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (Except At Brighton Podcast Festival) (3 April, Old Market)
'The Podfather’ (Guardian) and ‘King of the Internet’ (Time Out) brings his award winning podcast Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast to Brighton, chatting with an amazing surprise guest from the city. This ground-breaking podcast won the Bronze Award for Best Comedy at the 2013 Sony Radio Academy Awards and the Chortle Internet Award 2013. 2014 and 2018 and has spawned a brand new book Emergency Questions published by Sphere in October. At over 200 episodes, previous guests have included Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg, Steve Coogan, Stephen Merchant, Dawn French, Maria Bamford and Brian Blessed.
