BBC Studios today announced that BBC.com subscribers in the United States and Canada can now enjoy early access to select BBC podcasts, giving members the opportunity to listen to episodes before their wider release.

Beginning today, episodes from several popular BBC podcasts will start rolling out to subscribers ahead of their general availability, including Good Bad Billionaire, History’s Secret Heroes, In Our Time, Intrigue, You’re Dead To Me and World of Secrets, with additional titles expected over time.

Tara Maitra, President, Commercial News at BBC Studios, said: "The BBC.com subscription offering continues to evolve as we bring more of the BBC together in one place. The addition of early access podcasts is another step in creating a richer, more engaging experience for subscribers, giving audiences greater access and more ways to connect with BBC’s trusted journalism and distinctive storytelling.”

BBC.com will also debut a video podcast edition of In Our Time, one of the BBC’s longest-running and most celebrated audio franchises, for subscribers.

Spanning history, religion, culture, science and philosophy, In Our Time brings together host Misha Glenny and leading experts for in-depth conversations exploring the people, events and discoveries that have shaped our world. The first video podcast edition of In Our Time premieres Thursday, September 17 on BBC.com and BBC Select, BBC Studios’ ad-free premium documentary streaming service in the U.S. and Canada. New video episodes will premiere each Thursday first on BBC.com and BBC Select before later becoming available ex-UK on the BBC Podcasts YouTube channel.

Upcoming episodes include Thomas More’s Utopia, the influential and ambiguous 1516 work that has been interpreted as both an ideal society and a timeless warning; the world of particle accelerators and their far-reaching applications in science, medicine and archaeology; and the film Casablanca and its enduring emotional power.

These additions build on a growing suite of subscriber features available through BBC.com, including unlimited access to BBC global news and reporting, the BBC News livestream in the U.S., ad-free documentaries and podcasts, exclusive newsletters, and other premium experiences designed to provide deeper context and insight beyond the headlines.

The BBC.com annual subscription is available for US$49.99 in the United States and CAN$69.99 in Canada. For more information, visit www.bbc.com/subscribe.
