YouTuber and social media star Bailey Sarian launches podcast Dark History
This article is at least a year old
Top YouTuber and social media sensation Bailey Sarian, whose YouTube channel – home to her hit series Murder Mystery & Makeup – has 4.77M subscribers, with Sarian’s Instagram reaching 2.3M followers, is expanding to audio and video production of the new original podcast, Dark History, co-produced with Wheelhouse DNA. Dark History premieres Wednesday, June 2 and airs weekly on Audioboom.
The professional makeup artist and true crime enthusiast originally created the unique storytelling platform (as seen in Murder Mystery & Makeup) through which she takes her audience through compelling stories of crime and investigation, all while applying her own makeup, with a different look completed over the course of each episode. Her Dark History podcast expands the scope of her storytelling, with Sarian exposing the dark underbelly and hidden secrets of both well-known and lesser-known stories from U.S. and world history. Episodes of Dark History will explore such chilling stories as:
- DuPont Chemical: Bailey explores a potential widespread chemical contamination, a cover-up, and an unlikely lawsuit that reveals it all during the DuPont Chemical scandal.
- Armenian Genocide: Bailey dives into the Ottoman Empire, nationalism, and censorship as she uncovers the impact of the Armenian Genocide.
- Juneteenth: Bailey explores the history behind Juneteenth, what it means, why it hasn’t been recognized to the fullest extent, and how its importance is resurging today.
- Birth Control Trials: Bailey gets into eugenics, drug testing, side effects, and the sterilization of women as she uncovers the story of the Birth Control Trials in Puerto Rico.
- Zoot Suit Riots: Bailey explores Los Angeles history and an important counterculture movement and dives into the race riots between American servicemen and Mexican-American men during the Zoot Suit Riots.
- And many others…
“Storytelling is a passion of mine, and I’m so excited to bring people into a whole new world with Dark History,” Sarian said of the podcast.
Through the deal, Wheelhouse DNA, the digital media arm of entertainment, marketing and investment enterprise Wheelhouse, also will produce with Sarian Murder Mystery & Makeup (airing Mondays), and produce the video version of Dark History. Featuring high production values and filmed on a brand new, custom-built, “Sarian-style” set in Los Angeles, that series will premiere June 3 and air weekly on Thursdays.
Said Wheelhouse Chief Strategy Officer Ed Simpson, who oversees DNA, “Wheelhouse is built on forging the most meaningful relationships with top-tier talent, like Kevin Hart and Adam Levine, and now with breakthrough Gen Z, influencer-driven talent like the amazing Bailey, who are defining the next wave in entertainment. Bailey Sarian is an innovator whose audience sees her depth and uniqueness, and we’re thrilled to be in business with her.”
The deal with Bailey Sarian was brokered by Wheelhouse’s VP of Business Development, West Coast, Fanny Baudry, and WME.
Dark History podcast and video series, and Murder Mystery & Makeup are executive produced by Bailey Sarian, Chelsea Durgin, Ed Simpson, Avi Gandhi and Fanny Baudry.
