Podcasting is expanding rapidly in Australia, as demonstrated by more than 200 podcasts entering the awards in 2017, and over 5,000 votes being received in the Popular Vote. Those figures are expected to double by the time entries and voting close in 2018.

“Last year, we fielded entrants from SBS, Fairfax, News Limited and Mamamia, as well as individuals like Wil Anderson and Osher Günsberg, and the best of Australian independent podcasters,” says awards founder Dave Gertler.

“I’m excited to be giving something back to a medium that has changed my life for the better, both as a listener and as a podcaster,” says awards Founder Dave Gertler. “There is a thriving community of podcasters and listeners across Australia for whom this medium is becoming an increasingly important part of their lives. This event is for them."

“The effort and time that goes into producing podcasts for people to consume for free is substantial. This is an opportunity to recognise the people all over Australia who are committed to producing valuable content for their audiences to enjoy.”
