Audio Fiction FM goes live, with news and interviews from audio fiction shows

Hemlock Creek Productions, an audio post production studio editing audio for podcasts, film, and video games, has announced their new original podcast “Audio Fiction FM,” which showcases audio fiction and the people who make it.

Host Marisa Ewing-Moody, Hemlock Creek’s founder and lead audio engineer, created “Audio Fiction FM” after almost a decade editing audio fiction and the release of their own show, the horror audio drama “Liars & Leeches.” In each episode of “Audio Fiction FM,” Marisa presents news from the world of audio fiction, and then plays the first episode of a fictional audio podcast. They then interview the show’s creators, asking them about the production listeners just heard, as well as their experiences working on audio fiction. 

The first episode will be released on Hemlock Creek Productions’ YouTube on August 12th at 8:00pm central time, and while the episode itself is prerecorded, listeners will have access to a live chat room where they can talk with fellow listeners and creators. This premiere episode will feature audio drama creator and author Lauren Shippen of Atypical Artists. She will discuss her latest show “Two Thousand and Late,” a supernatural audio drama, as well as her experience acting in and creating audio dramas, including the smash hit sci-fi podcast “The Bright Sessions.” 

Marisa created “Audio Fiction FM” in response to the struggles creators face in marketing audio fiction. “I’m a huge fan of audio fiction, both as a creator and a listener,” they said. “However, audio fiction as a whole tends to struggle with discoverability. Many audio fiction shows are created by small independent teams, and some are solo productions with a single person acting as both show creator and the show’s entire marketing department. With most audio fiction listeners discovering shows either through word of mouth or social media, it can be difficult for creators to find the time to promote their shows to new fans, and fans may struggle with finding new shows if they don’t directly know the creators or follow them online. My hope with “Audio Fiction FM” is to bring fans and creators together to explore new shows across a wide spectrum of genres that they may not normally engage with, from horror to comedy to romance.”

“Audio Fiction FM” episodes will premiere on the second Wednesday of every month on Hemlock Creek Productions’ YouTube page. For listeners who miss the premieres, episodes will also be released in an audio only format wherever listeners get their podcasts.
