Spotify (NYSE: SPOT) announced today a multiyear exclusive license agreement with one of the world’s most listened-to and shared podcasts, the award-winning Armchair Expert podcast, co-hosted by actor, filmmaker and comedian Dax Shepard and Emmy-nominated producer and personality Monica Padman. In addition to bringing the widely-popular podcast to the Spotify platform exclusively, the deal also covers a first look with Armchair Umbrella Network. All existing and new episodes of Armchair Expert, which is produced by Rob Holysz, Padman and Shepard, will remain free and available exclusively on Spotify starting July 1st.

Armchair Expert, a chart-topping podcast across all platforms, is a weekly podcast that features in-depth interviews with celebrities, artists, authors and global thought-leaders. The humanity of each guest rings throughout each episode as guests share their most vulnerable, challenging, and triumphant moments that define their lives that have often never been told before. Armchair Expert challenges listeners to listen closely, withhold judgement, and recount the similarities that bring us together while allowing space for humor and forgiveness. Dax and Monica’s candor, inquisitiveness and openness about their own lives allow their guests to be radically transparent, creating an immersive storytelling experience that is inimitable. Recent guests include John Legend, Bill Gates, Salma Hayek, Shawn Mendes, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Tom Brady, Leslie Odom Jr., Matthew McConaughey, Dr. Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell, Alicia Keys, Hillary Clinton, Laura Labo (Dax’s mom) and a frequent close guest, Kristen Bell.

“Moving to Spotify is a huge opportunity for us. I am especially grateful for the work Monica and Rob have done to get us to this point. We are all bathing in the excitement of knowing we will get to do what we love most for the next three years,” said Dax Shepard.

"We are very excited to embark on this journey with Spotify. Armchair Expert will remain the same show it has always been, but with added opportunities that only Spotify can offer us. We look forward to continuing to bring our human driven content and doorless bathroom to our audience through this exclusive platform,” said Monica Padman.

“We’re thrilled to be entering into an exclusive licensing deal with Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, one of the most beloved and popular podcasts not only on Spotify, but across all platforms. Dax and Monica’s kindred way of engaging their listeners with conversations so honest, authentic and poignant are why listeners come back to them every week. The variety of guests featured each week are both entertaining and intriguing, making it a can’t-miss show for the millions of Spotify listeners around the world,” said Dawn Ostroff, Chief Content & Advertising Business Officer. “We made it no secret that we wanted to bring some of the world’s most respected podcasts and dynamic creators to Spotify exclusively, and we are very excited to add Armchair Expert, alongside it’s hugely loyal global following of dedicated fans, to our diverse catalogue of phenomenal podcasts.”

Dax Shepard, a UCLA alum where he studied Anthropology, is known for his beloved role as Crosby Braverman on NBC’s “Parenthood” and also recently co-starred in Netflix’s series “The Ranch” and ABC’s “Bless This Mess.” Shepard, who can currently be seen as one of the hosts of “Top Gear America,” has also starred in films like WITHOUT A PADDLE, IDIOCRACY, HIT AND RUN and CHiPs, the latter two of which he also wrote and directed.

With this Spotify partnership, Dax Shepard will continue to maintain editorial oversight and creative control of all Armchair productions.
