The Awards, sponsored by Audible, were held at a gala event on Thursday 27th November at the BFI on London’s South Bank. Remel London, Broadcaster and Founder of the Mainstream was this year’s host.

The APAs, organised by AudioUK (the body dedicated to advancing the podcast and audio industry), celebrate outstanding achievement in podcasting and audio across a huge range of content including; podcasts, audiobooks, sound design, radio, presenting and more.

This year’s winners include the team at Fix Radio behind The Bald Builders Breakfast who won gold in the Entertainment category and newcomers to the APAs, Becky and Ben Saer who won in Ensemble Cast/Presenting Team for their podcast, Becky and Ben’s Fertility Spotlight. The highly competitive Drama and Fiction award went to the production team at Penny4 for their work on supernatural thriller podcast Up in Smoke and the team at We Are Grape took home the Music category for Pete Tong’s Essential History Of Dance.

Three new categories were introduced for 2025. Wajid Yaseen and Steve Urquhart (Modus Arts) took gold in the hugely popular History category for Tape Letters Scotland, a project shining a light on the practice of recording and sending messages on cassette tape by Pakistanis who migrated and settled in the UK between 1960-1980. The team at RAW/Audible won in True Crime for Cursed, presented by Femi Oke, who also picked up gold for Presenter/Host. The QueerAF podcast & Trans+ History Week won the Changemaker Award for a 6 part series of mini-documentaries about gender-diverse communities throughout history at a pivotal time.

In the new talent categories, Scout Tzofiya Bolton (Prison Radio Association) won the New Voice title and Mia Thornton (BBC Sounds Audio Lab/Reform Radio) took home the gold for New Producer.

Bella Soames (DMG Media) was crowned Producer of the Year, Prison Radio Association was named Production Company of the Year, and Fix Radio took home Publisher/Network of the Year. The AudioUK Award was presented to the team at Crossed Wires Festival in recognition of their outstanding contribution to championing the UK podcast and audio industry.

Chloe Straw, CEO of AudioUK, said: “At AudioUK, we are the industry body dedicated to advancing the podcast and audio industry, by fostering innovation, supporting creators and businesses, and driving both commercial and creative growth.

The APAs exemplify the brilliance of the industry - whether you are a big business or an independent creator, there is a place for you to be celebrated, and to celebrate, together. Congratulations to everyone who entered and to all who won at the APAs this year. Entering can often be the hardest step, and you should all be incredibly proud.

Thank you to our lead sponsor, Audible; to our Pay What You Can scheme partners, Amazon Music; and to all our excellent media partners and category sponsors. Thank you to the AudioUK Board and executive. But most of all, thank you to the amazing team behind these awards, led by the indefatigable Katie Banham. If you see them, buy them a drink.

The opportunity in this industry is like nothing I have seen before, it is there for the taking, so act quickly, and act well.”
