Lipstick & Vinyl Signs Two New Podcasts to its Network -- Amended and Gatekeepers

Press Release ·

This article is at least a year old

Los Angeles CA, USA—Lipstick & Vinyl, the podcast ad sales network dedicated to underrepresented voices with a concentration on female voices, has signed two new podcasts to its growing roster, Amended and Gatekeepers. Focus 360, an investor in Lipstick & Vinyl, also represents podcasts in the Lipstick & Vinyl network.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the nationwide ratification of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. Amended, hosted by Dr. Laura Free, a historian of women and politics, shines a spotlight on many of the lesser known but courageous women who led the struggle to win equal voting rights for women in America. Through vivid storytelling, Dr. Free and her guests highlight these early activists of the women’s movement, who fought injustice based on race, citizenship status, and class, in addition to advocating for the rights of their sex.

Racial issues such as economic disparity, lack of job opportunities and access to higher education or training have bubbled to the surface of American society, spurred by Black Lives Matter. Hosted by the publishers of DAME magazine, Gatekeepers reveals the ugly truth about who controls access to public spaces across America, and how white privilege has often wielded its power to keep out blacks and people of color. Gatekeepers digs deep to uncover the motivations behind these events, past and present, and features interviews with scholars, citizens, and experts, together with archival audio, immersing listeners in a truly illuminating audio experience.
