Toronto ON, Canada—The magic that has enraptured more than a quarter million listeners returns this Friday as the GTA-based power team of Eli McIlveen and Sean Howard premiere the second season of their award-winning comedy podcast, Alba Salix, Royal Physician.

Winner of the 2015 Mark Time Award (Fantasy category), a finalist in the Parsec Awards, and a HEAR Now Official Listening Selection, Alba Salix, Royal Physician is a satirical fantasy in the tradition of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the novels of Terry Pratchett. Alba is the head witch at a tiny clinic called the House of Healing, with an endless lineup of patients and a bickering King and Queen to please. She’s assisted by Magnus, a troublesome young ex‐monk and aspiring surgeon, and Holly, an accident‐prone fairy herbalist.

“We have seen incredible growth in listeners and active fans on social media and through our Patreon page,” says Sean. “Writing, directing, and producing the second season of Alba has been a labour of love, and one we are thrilled to be sharing with the world this Friday.”

The second season of Alba Salix introduces new characters played by Hamilton and GTA actors, as well as guest appearances from popular actors and hosts of other podcasts around the world.

“We are blown away by the feedback from our early-access listeners. They’ve been especially positive about the return of beloved characters, the new plot lines and the sound design and original music they’ve come to expect from Alba Salix,” says Sean. “We can’t wait for the rest of our local community and podcast listeners across the globe to share the laughs and joy that we hope Alba Salix will continue to bring.”

The series has spawned two spinoffs set in the same world: the barroom comedy The Axe & Crown and the improvised live-play roleplaying game The End of Time and Other Bothers. All three shows can be heard at AlbaSalix.com, on the iTunes store, or anywhere podcasts are found.
