ADWIT: The Audio Drama Writers’ Independent Toolkit Returns for a Third Season to Help Make More Good Stories

Press Release · Philadelphia, PA, USA ·

ADWIT: the Audio Drama Writers’ Independent Toolkit, which explores best practices in audio drama and fiction podcast writing, proudly announces the launch of its highly anticipated third season on April 4, 2025.

Hosted by Sarah Golding and Lindsay Harris Friel, Season 3 analyzes what fiction podcast writers want, and digs deeper into the craft of writing audio drama, continuing the show’s mission to help writers create better podcasts.

Ever wish you could listen to a certain kind of story? Are there experiences, urban myths, folklore or ancient history that you want to share with an audience? Have you written a screenplay, novel, or short story you want to adapt into an audio drama podcast? ADWIT wants to give you the resources to write or improve audio drama scripts, so the world can have more excellent stories.

Improved Strategies to Help Writers Sharpen Their Stories and Make The World a Better Place

The cultural zeitgeist is saturated with quick takes and surface-level “content.” However, fiction podcasts provide deeper imaginative engagement. This audio art form combines narrative structure, text and subtext, sound design, and performance to transport listeners beyond the mundane. If you’re sick of fragmented and polarized public discourse, fiction podcasts create opportunities for empathy, reflection, and cultural critique. These podcasts can amplify underrepresented voices, experiment with form, and invite listeners to inhabit perspectives different from their own. Knowing how to write fiction podcasts is not just a creative skill. Writing audio drama is a way to participate meaningfully in shaping the narratives that define us.

With a fresh slate of episodes, Season 3 offers engaging discussions that examine dramatic premise, “plotting” vs. “pantsing,” and scriptwriting software for audio. Known for its funny and unorthodox approach to storytelling, ADWIT may be the only podcast dedicated solely to the craft of audio drama writing.

“I want to help people get from wishing to doing,” said voice-acting veteran Sarah Golding. "Life is too short to avoid creative risks.”
