This article is at least a year old

Acast – the world’s largest independent podcast company – has announced a new schedule for its popular free Aclass digital event programme, with a series of monthly sessions focusing on under-represented voices in podcasting.

Starting with Aclass: Celebrating Asian Voices on September 14, each month Acast will bring together a panel of podcasters representing diverse communities — encouraging more voices into podcasting, celebrating success stories, and discussing how to overcome challenges.

The line up for Aclass: Celebrating Asian Voices includes Vithushan Ehantharajah from The Football Ramble, Oh Annie Oh, host of Don’t Call Me “Exotic”, Georgie Ma from Chinese Chippy Girl, Shivani Dave from The Log Books, and Nikesh Shukla, author and host behind Brown Baby.

Aclass events were first launched in 2019, and are aimed at anyone interested in podcasting — from creators who’ve already started their podcast and need help getting it off the ground, right through to those who still need help developing their idea. Each session will be around an hour long, will take place in the evening, and will be interpreted for British Sign Language users — making them as accessible as possible for all.

Following the first round of Aclass events, attendees will be offered support to create and start their podcast. Alongside Acast’s Aclass Essentials toolkit, they’ll get free Acast hosting and discounts from partners.

Sam Shetabi, UK Content Director, Acast: “Acast is committed not only to giving a platform to under-represented voices, but giving them the tools they need to launch their own shows — and we hope that, by holding these events, more diverse voices will enter the space.

“Our new Aclass series will start by highlighting podcasting pioneers, and culminate with a series of workshops on production and content creation. We have some fantastic speakers lined up to offer their insight and advice.”

Aclass: Celebrating Asian Voices is on September 14, 7-8pm. Attendees can register for FREE here.
