Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity and the focus is often on the dire consequences of what isn’t being done…until now. NOVA Entertainment today announced the launch of a new podcast A Positive Climate, focused on what is being done and showcasing the cutting-edge technologies that will help humans tackle climate change, with the first episode released on Monday 3 May.

A Positive Climate is hosted by experts in the cleantech sector, Nick Zeltzer and Alex McIntosh, who are flipping the script on climate change. Through interviews with inspiring people driving positive change and looking at inventions and products to tackle climate change, the podcast provides a platform to help everyone have a more positive impact on the planet.

Having met while working in the Australian clean energy sector, Zeltzer said, “Alex and I noticed a large disconnect. Our friends and family were so downcast about climate change, yet we’d be meeting so many inspiring people working on these brilliant ideas, that we felt positive about the future. We came up with this podcast as a platform to tell the uplifting stories of the Australians making real change happen.”

Season One of A Positive Climate looks at waste eating maggots, turning beer into electricity, battery powered planes and innovative businesses seeking to eliminate single use plastics, with the first episode showcasing Nick Hazell, CEO of v2Food, a plant-based meat developed in Australia.

The podcast brings together the wealth of experience Zeltzer and McIntosh have in the cleantech sector. Zeltzer is an innovation junkie with the ultimate respect for the founders of Australian startups. He is also passionate about electric vehicles, having helped direct funding to the first ultra-rapid charging network in Australia, Chargefox. McIntosh has worked on a number of pumped hydro and battery projects within Australia and sees storage as a key piece of the puzzle in Australia’s transition to renewable energy. More recently, she is focused on the quickly developing hydrogen industry which provides Australia with unique potential to be an exporter of clean, not fossil fueled energy.

“It feels like we’re at a turning point where addressing climate change is not only something we need to do out of necessity but it also just makes good business sense. We want people to hear about the amazing work going on in sustainability - across all the areas of our daily lives - and be inspired to get involved. We also want to speak to those outside the industry so we’re really excited to be partnering with NOVA Entertainment to help get the word out,” said McIntosh.

Kane Reiken, NOVA Entertainment’s Digital Commercial Director said, “Podcasting is the perfect environment to unlock conversation and discussion within a passionate community of listeners. With the rise in sustainability and renewable energy awareness from Australian consumers, A Positive Climate provides a powerful platform for brands to build discussion around these topics. Lexus have identified this and are genuinely engaging with this community to build a better future through their automotive offering.”

James Huynh, Lexus Senior Media Planning Coordinator said, “We are excited to be launch partner with A Positive Climate to help them build conversations and awareness around climate change. Nick & Alex are respected experts in their field, and we look forward to helping them share their inspirational message around positive changes and innovations available to us now and in the future.”
