PodcastOne and Hubbard Radio Team to Launch New, Original True-Crime Podcast, 22 Hours: An American Nightmare

Los Angeles CA, USA—PodcastOne, the leading advertiser-supported podcast network, and Hubbard Radio, which owns 30% of PodcastOne, have once again tapped Hubbard’s resources to launch 22 Hours: An American Nightmare, debuting in June. The new, chilling true-crime series comes from award-winning journalists at WTOP in Washington D.C., the nation’s top-billing radio station.
Over the last four years, since Hubbard’s investment in the company, PodcastOne has marketed and distributed over 100 podcasts from Hubbard stations, leveraging PodcastOne’s 2.8 billion annual network downloads to benefit Hubbard’s local stations and PodcastOne’s national advertising platform.
“I’ve noticed recently that other major radio companies are promoting their new relationships with podcasters,” said PodcastOne Executive Chairman Norm Pattiz. “The Hubbard Radio/PodcastOne relationship recognized the synergies present over four years ago, and it continues to expand today. We have a very definite game plan that seeks to take advantage of podcasting’s obvious on-demand advantages to stations, while mining the creativity that radio companies can bring to the table.”
Set to debut in June, 22 Hours: An American Nightmare is a 10-episode series capturing the tragedy of the D.C. mansion murders through an investigation and storytelling by WTOP Reporters Megan Cloherty and Jack Moore. Produced by WTOP and its Digital News Director, Julia Ziegler, the podcast examines the complicated trail of evidence that police say led to finding the killer and his motive to hold a D.C. power couple, their 10-year-old son and housekeeper hostage for nearly 24 hours, before murdering them inside their own home.
“We at Hubbard are excited to bring listeners around the country this story from a team of experienced investigative reporters at WTOP. Listeners in the Washington D.C. region are familiar with WTOP’s high-quality journalism and, with the help of PodcastOne, we are excited to now share that with the nation,” said Wheeler Morris, manager of Hubbard Radio’s Corporate Podcast Strategy.
The program adds to PodcastOne’s list of successful true-crime content, including Cold Case Files, We’re Alive, Murder Made Me Famous and The First Degree. The show will be available in early June on Apple Podcasts, PodcastOne.com, the PodcastOne app and WTOP.com.
