So you want to book a celebrity - Radio Boot Camp
By Radio Boot Camp
Whether you’re booking for an interview, or casting a documentary or an audio fiction series, celebrities add luster, and draw attention. They are sometimes important because of what makes them exceptional—a particular role, a timely new project—and sometimes because they are very visible reflections of ordinary lives and experiences we all share—as parents, or activists, or people in recovery. So—you want one. Most often, you want a particular one. In this workshop, award-winning producer Sarah Montague, who has netted, cast and worked with A listers from Tony Kushner to Cynthia Nixon, will share some of her tricks of the trade including a few old-world courtesies that continue to provide results.
What you’ll learn:
Why most of the time, you really do want to go through an agent or manager, and how to find them. What kinds of background research and sources can be helpful. For example, IMBD is the go to database, but it’s heavily biased towards film. How to write an enticing cover letter— one that will get past “their people.” How to use social media to your best advantage. Real-world scenarios: in this completely confidential environment, if you have specific people in mind, we can talk about possible approaches.
