Reporting Crime in Real Time: Tools, Ethics, and Strategy

By AIR (Associations of Independents in Radio)

Learn how to produce a compelling and ethical true-crime podcast. This 3-part course, beginning Nov 5th covers how to track down hard-to-find people, vet sources with hidden agendas, report unfolding stories in real time, and avoid re-victimizing survivors.

Taught by Javier Leiva, who is no stranger to the dark corners of the human psyche. With his true crime podcasts “PRETEND,” “CRIMINAL CONDUCT,” and “THE PONZI PLAYBOOK.” Leiva has carved out a reputation as one of the genre’s most immersive storytellers.

Last chance to enroll in this class is the week of October 27th.

AIR also understands the economic times we’re currently in, so we do have additional options for sliding scale and payment plan options that can help elevate any cost barriers for those who are interested. Email soundpath@airmedia.org for more information.

In addition, the Podcasting Seriously Fund also offers education and training applicants a reimbursement for completed courses. More details can be found here: https://www.podcastingseriously.com/fund
