Latest news
- Jul 22: iHeart’s average weekly downloads in the Podtrac ranker for June are 78mn, 18% higher than Triton’s number, despite both solutions being IAB Certified. Over the last month, trying to understand why they’re different, Podnews spoke to Podtrac, Triton, iHeart and the IAB - and learnt:
- Jul 11: This American Life is to be exclusively sold by National Public Media. The show had been represented by The New York Times. Ira Glass is also going to voice a host-read ad within the show for the first time. (That might explain why The New York Times is no longer listed as a publisher in Podtrac, as we noted earlier this week).
- Jul 8: Podtrac released its ranker for June 2024. Each top 5 is unchanged, though almost everyone saw a drop in consumption. The New York Times is no longer listed as a US publisher, though The Daily remains the most listened-to podcast. The ranker measures participating publishers only.
- Jun 21: There’s a new #1 for podcasting at the top of May’s Triton Digital US Podcast Ranker - for the first time, iHeart Media is being measured by the service. The “iHeart Audience Network” claims 67,355,410 average weekly downloads, 76% more than the previous #1 network, SiriusXM. iHeart is also #1 with Podtrac.
- Jun 12: Two days after its release, Podtrac’s ranker of global publishers now includes Acast (at #2). “Acast was inadvertently left off the original May Global Ranker release as we worked with Podtrac to clarify their methodology,” said Acast CBO Greg Glenday.
