- Jul 17: Meanwhile, co-founder of podcast production company Podmasters, Martin Bojtos, tells the Podnews Weekly Review this week that, for a while, the #1 source of revenue for the company was video income from Spotify's partner program. The company is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
- Jul 6: The British Podcast Awards 2026 released its longlist - recognising 409 entrants across 27 categories. Almost half the longlist are claimed to be independent titles and talent. We see at least 53 nominations for the BBC, eleven for Audible, eight for Audio Always, Platform Media and Bauer Media, seven for Persephonica and Fun Kids, five for Rethink Audio, Sky News, Bloomberg and History Hit, four for Novel and Podmasters, three for Sony and Avalon. One notable indie who has a nomination: the 19 year-old Answer Me This!. Goalhanger, the UK's largest independent podcast company, did not enter; Global also appears not to have put their shows forward.
- May 14: The BBC has changed the name of a new show after it was pointed out that it was similar to an already existing one. The BBC's upcoming Talk History to Me was similar to Talk '90s to Me, a show from Podmasters hosted by Miranda Sawyer, who posted on Instagram "it's profoundly depressing to read that BBC Sounds have decided to nick our title." Podmasters co-founder Martin Bojtos has now revealed that the BBC has decided to change the name of the upcoming show. It's probably relevant that Bojtos is a board member of trade body AudioUK, and Miranda Sawyer is a prominent UK journalist, radio and podcast critic.

Coming at a time when Oasis fever is sweeping the UK, the show talks to the people who were REALLY there and delves deep into a different topic from this dazzling decade.
