  • A profile of the nice folks who make Pocket Casts in Adelaide SA, Australia. On May 4 they were acquired by a consortium of US public radio broadcasters. “So [some investors are] looking for the Netflix of Podcasting, which is one privately held corporation actually controlling distribution for everybody, and I don’t know if that’s a good thing.”

  • US comedian Amy Schumer has been signed by Spotify (to the tune of US$1m) to produce a podcast. Kevin Goldberg from DiscoverPods crunches the numbers.

  • In the Netherlands, the Dutch Podcast Awards are coming in September 2018, organised by radio station BNR. Lekker!

  • Radiodays Europe’s Podcast Day have published their full program. It’s in Copenhagen Denmark on 12 June.

  • In Sydney NSW, Australia, podcast company Whooshkaa are looking for a sales director. In New York NY, USA, Simplecast is hiring for multiple positions; and Slate is hunting for a daily news host.

  • Interesting idea: at the end of the season, 2298 - A Distopian Fantasy posts an additional version - all the episodes edited together as one piece of standalone audio. (Advantages include: no skipping past the intro every time).
