New York NY, USA—Diversion Podcasts, a division of Diversion Publishing, announced the launch of a new studio and production network to develop and release original narrative non-fiction episodic audio series written and hosted by authors and distributed as podcasts.

From sports to spies, from true crime to true adventure, across history, music, and even war, Diversion’s entertaining and informative productions take the listener deep into worlds and introduce characters they will never forget. Diversion creates stories that engage and amaze through rare primary source interviews, elegant sound design, and author perspectives unavailable anywhere else.

Behind the venture are Diversion Publishing CEO Scott Waxman and former SiriusXM veteran and CCO Mark Francis. “We’ve taken the source material of audiobooks and transformed it with an entirely new approach to production, creating dramatic, educational series that nobody else is doing,” said Waxman. “These shows are like the great stories and information of audiobooks, but far more immersive.”

Leveraging the thousands of books, hundreds of authors, and dozens of New York Times bestsellers under the Diversion Publishing umbrella, Diversion Podcasts is adapting books and serializing them as eminently digestable, entertaining audio episodes. The shows are all hosted by the original authors. “Who better to tell these stories than the authors, journalists, and storytellers who researched and wrote the books?” said Francis.

Diversion’s debut show is The Dream Team Tapes, featuring exclusive audio from players of the greatest sports team ever assembled, the 1992 U.S. Men’s Olympic Basketball Team. The series launches May 18, 2020 through a partnership with Diversion and iHeartRadio, the No. 1 commercial podcast publisher globally. Episodes 1 & 2—which feature Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Karl Malone—are available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, the iHeartRadio app, and everywhere podcasts are available: https://geni.us/TheDreamTeamTapes

Diversion will launch five original series over Spring and Summer 2020, including “The Dream Team Tapes.” “The Good Assassin," coming June 1, 2020 from bestselling nonfiction author Stephen Talty, is part detective case, part spy thriller, and part Holocaust history. It’s a gripping series about how a Mossad Agent and a team of Holocaust survivors hunted down and assassinated the fearsome Nazi war criminal, the Butcher of Latvia. Coming June 15, 2020 is “The War Queens”: incredible stories of history’s greatest female battlefield leaders as told by father/daughter team, Jonathan and Emily Jordan. “Guest of Honor”—launching June 29, 2020 from award-winning author Deborah Davis —is about how a 1901 White House dinner with President Theodore Roosevelt and Booker T. Washington almost caused a second Civil War. Veteran rock journalist Jon Wiederhorn’s “Raising Hell”—launching June 22, 2020—is wild stories from heavy metal music’s heaviest and most iconic acts.
