Triton Digital releases inaugural Canada Podcast Report

  • Triton Digital has released its inaugural Canada Podcast Report. The ranker shows the top downloaded podcasts overall, top Canadian English-language and French-language shows, as well as top networks in the country. For Canadian podcasts, CBC Radio’s The Current is #1 in English (and CBC run 28 of the top 30); Radio-Canada’s Le Radiojournal is the #1 in French (they run 14 of the top 30). Overall, Dateline NBC was the #1 show in the country. It measures thirteen participating publishers.

  • Breaking: Spotify has just released its financial results for Q1/22. “Growth in the number of (Monthly Active Users) that engaged with podcast content continued to outstrip total MAU growth, podcast consumption rates grew in the double digits Y/Y, and podcast share of overall consumption hours on our platform reached another all-time high,” the company says. The company also reports “a favorable revenue mix shift towards podcasts and growing marketplace activity”.

  • Warner Music Group has launched a new podcast network, Interval Presents, producing “multi-format, culture-forward audio content at the intersection of music, pop culture, and social impact”. It’ll be run by Allan Coye.
