Tenderfoot TV Announces Its First Podcast Funded Entirely by Bitcoin - 'From Nowhere'

Press Release ·

This article is at least a year old

Tenderfoot TV, the Atlanta-based content creation company massing over 660 million downloads, announced that they are producing “From Nowhere,” a new investigative podcast funded entirely by Bitcoin that uncovers the dark past of the crypto world, and how it became the overbearing force it is today.

From Nowhere personalizes “the definitive story of Bitcoin” — from a revolt against banks to the digital Wild West: lies, corruption, extortion and even murder. Combining first-person narration, interviews, re-enactment scenes and readings, and the inclusion of archives, the definitive story of Bitcoin has never been more personal.

Hosted by Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist Matt Schrader, this docuseries lays out how an anonymous pseudonym managed to challenge the most powerful financial giants in the world, inspire statues and world leaders, and accumulate what is believed to be an over $60 billion net worth.

“Using Bitcoin to make a series about it seemed a natural fit, and Tenderfoot TV embraced that challenge with us,” says Schrader. “One of the coolest side effects of producing this is that as the value of Bitcoin goes up, it gives us more creative options for what we can do in the show.”

“At Tenderfoot, we embrace the idea of disrupting the norms with every project, and Bitcoin falls in line with this disruption,” said Donald Albright, Co-founder and President of Tenderfoot TV. “A project like 'From Nowhere’ diversifies our offerings even more, and this method of funding coupled with this powerful of a story makes sense for this project.”

“From Nowhere” is executive produced by Tenderfoot TV, in partnership with Epicleff Media.

The series is written and hosted by Matt Schrader, founder of Epicleff Media, and three-time Emmy Award-winning producer and filmmaker. He directed the 2017 international hit film Score: A Film Music Documentary, a New York Times Critics Pick, and is executive producer of Score: The Podcast. Schrader is also the creator of the award-winning and genre-pushing scripted “biopod” series Blockbuster on Apple Podcasts. Prior to founding Epicleff Media in 2014, Schrader was an award-winning producer and editor for news organizations including CBS and NBC, specializing in investigative journalism. Schrader’s writing, reporting and editing has been recognized and honored by local, national, and international journalistic organizations, and he is currently a judge of the Walter Cronkite Awards for Excellence in Television Political Journalism.

Alongside Schrader, includes award-winning film sound veteran Peter Bawiec M.P.S.E. (Midway, Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Modern Family), who previously worked with Schrader on Blockbuster, which garnered back-to-back Creative Podcast of the Year honors by Adweek, and was a 2021 AMBIES Podcast of the Year finalist. It is produced by Alex Vespestad, who previously produced the Tenderfoot TV megahit “To Live and Die In LA” and the AMBIES-winning sports documentary podcast “Whistleblower.”

The show will be available in early 2022.
