Press Release · Los Angeles CA, USA ·

This article is at least a year old

Spotify (NYSE: SPOT) announced today a multiyear exclusive agreement with one of the world’s most followed and talked about podcasts, Call Her Daddy, produced and hosted by Alex Cooper. Based on Spotify’s 2020 Wrapped, Call Her Daddy was the fifth-most-popular podcast streamed globally on Spotify. In addition to bringing the podcast to Spotify exclusively, including all back catalogue full-length episodes, the deal also covers all future episodes and additional exclusive new projects in development. All existing and new episodes of Call Her Daddy will remain free and available only on Spotify starting July 21st. More information around the partnership will be shared in the upcoming Call Her Daddy episode debuting Wednesday on Spotify, available for free at spotify.link/CallHerDaddy.

Call Her Daddy is also the second-most-popular female-created podcast globally on Spotify, according to data released in March 2021 as part of Spotify’s EQUAL campaign. In fact, this female-led show has steadily been one of this year’s top fifteen podcasts across all other platforms. Call Her Daddy was the first of its kind for the podcast medium, creating a sex-positive space where women control the conversation from explicitly risqué topics to amusingly entertaining personal stories.

Since the show’s inception, Alex Cooper has broken barriers to amplify modern feminism, celebrate sexual liberties and personal empowerment, all while stripping away any judgement. As the show has evolved, Alex’s priority has been to uncover the importance of therapy, self-care, and personal growth by sharing her own mental health journey with her listeners. Alex Cooper’s unabashedly raw and direct point of view, along with her outlandish humor, has captivated the Gen Z and Millennial generation of listeners, who have coined themselves the “Daddy Gang.” To these millions of fans, Call Her Daddy is more than just a show, it is a movement, mantra and lifestyle.

Each episode offers an intimate and unpredictable experience where Alex’s unique interview style invites iconic guests like Mia Khalifa, Miley Cyrus and Rickey Thompson to share their vulnerable experiences. Call Her Daddy covers topics like reclaiming your power after trauma, sexual fluidity, self-love and even debunking stigmas surrounding mental health with esteemed medical experts like Dr. Orna Guralnik.

“I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who has supported, helped and been a part of Call Her Daddy. From its start three years ago, the show has always been about challenging the status-quo and manifesting conversations that previously only happened behind closed doors. I can’t wait for this next chapter with Spotify, where I will continue raising the bar with great content and guests for the Daddy Gang,” said Alex Cooper, host of Call Her Daddy.

“We’re beyond excited to welcome Call Her Daddy, one of the most wildly popular podcasts in the world, to Spotify. The level of enthusiasm and buzz from listeners generated after each episode is emblematic of the magic of the podcast. Alex connects with the Millennial and Gen Z generations while empowering her audience to openly express themselves” said Dawn Ostroff, Chief Content & Advertising Business Officer. “As we continue to fulfill our mission to bring some of the most unique and popular creators exclusively to Spotify, we are excited to expand these creative opportunities for both the creators and listeners around the world for free.”
