POLITICO’s mission from the very beginning was to win the audience. We dedicate ourselves to providing accurate, non-partisan, impactful information to the right people at the right time so that they can act with confidence and speed. We experiment to avoid being disrupted and we have fun disrupting others. And we are not afraid to risk failure if it means being the best at what we do.
We’re looking for a producer to push our sound in new directions. Our team is a start-up inside a large newsroom covering the world’s Number 1 stories right now, and we’re building pathways to reach new audiences and serve them in new ways. The POLITICO Audio team is a lab-like environment with a giant appetite for running experiments and learning from our audience to create better experiences for our listeners.
The ideal candidate will be a nerd for politics and policy, an evangelist for podcasting and on-demand audio, and an independent thinker with a track record of making compelling audio. You'll dive into high-profile news on politics and policy, shaping programming for a sophisticated audience. You'll have a front-row seat to newsmakers interviews, round-tables and more. And you'll intersect with scores of journalists in one of the nation’s leading newsrooms.
What you'll do:
- Produce episodes of interview shows, including research, booking, field production and post-production
- Collaborate with reporters, hosts and other producers across POLITICO’s teams
- Unlock the potential for audio products across the POLITICO newsroom
- Develop ideas for new segments, storytelling techniques, and short- and long-run audio series
What you'll need:
- At least five years of experience in audio and familiarity with audio equipment, field production techniques, and studio production techniques
- Experience with Adobe Audition
- An understanding of the trends in the on-demand audio market and how POLITICO can take advantage of them
- Strong news judgment and a familiarity with national politics and policy
We are driven by our values. We are relentless contributors, disruptors, collaborators, and talent cultivators. Our culture is defined by grit, total integrity, and a prioritization on innovation.
We value our people. We offer a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package, including health and wellness benefits, commuter benefits, retirement plans, as well as work-life balance flexibility and opportunities for career development.
